Current Vacancies - Kitchen Apprentice
First and foremost, The Cake Nest is an online bakery, producing all the products ourselves. From the start, our main objective was to deliver handmade cake through the letterbox anywhere in the UK. We developed our idea from a cake slice to cake cards to letterbox gifts. Now you will find us locked away in the kitchen experimenting with new flavours and exciting new subscription boxes to tantalise your tastebuds.
The Cake Nest is an award winning online cake company. However, we remain a family business and a good work life balance for all our team is of the upmost importance to us. We still bake our cakes with love and passion – we just have a bigger, dedicated kitchen to do it from and a small team to help us. It means we can make even more deliciously wicked treats including cake ball truffles, whoopie pies, push pops and personalised letterbox cakes. Making cakes that make people happy is our passion.
We are now looking for an apprentice to join our dedicated Bakery team to ensure the great quality of our cakes and chocolate truffles continues.
The applicant is to work in a small but busy kitchen environment following strict food Health & Hygiene policies to produce excellent quality and consistent cake products following detailed written methods and procedures.
The apprentice’s primary role is to assist the head baker in meeting the day's production goals for our online ordered goods (and any products that may be added to the product range) while maintaining high levels of food hygiene and cleanliness.
You will be expected to help out in the kitchen performing a variety of tasks including
- Washing up
- Helping preparing baking trays
- Weighing of ingredients
- Removing baked cakes from the oven
- Asisting the team with decoration
We expect the applicant to be well organised, friendly, helpful, trustworthy, reliable, self-motivated and be able to work effectively within a team. No skills required although basic understanding of english and maths would be beneficial (reading of recipes). Full training will be completed in house with the relevant qualification at the end of 12 months with monthly assessments.
